Oreo Balls

Here is a fun and SIMPLE (SIMPLE!!!) dessert that any chocoholic would love. Oreo Truffle Balls. They are small and bite sized, DELICIOUS, and ridiculously easy to make. What I like about these is that your taste buds will be satisfied with only 1 or 2 of these. Or in my case...3 or 4. But that's just me.

They are very similar to the cake pops
I had made a few months ago. I think these are even better. One whole package of oreos. One whole block of cream cheese. And chocolate chips. That's it. How can you go wrong? You can't. It's that simple.

Oreo Truffle Balls
  • 1 (1 pound, 2 ounce) package Oreo cookies
  • 1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, room temperature
  • 2 (8 ounces) packages semi-sweet chocolate chips (I used white chocolate. Candy melts can also be used for fun colors!)
  • 8 ounces white chocolate, optional
  1. Line a large baking sheet with wax paper.
  2. In a food processor or blender, process and crush all of the Oreo cookies into fine crumbs. Keep a few teaspoons of crushed oreos on the side for decoration if desired.
  3. Add cream cheese and process until thoroughly mixed (there should be no white traces of cream cheese).
  4. Using your hands, roll into balls, approximately 3/4-inch diameter, or whatever your preference. If the mixture becomes too soft to work, place the remaining mixture back into the refrigerator to slightly harden.
  5. Put Oreo Balls in the freezer approx. 15 minutes to stiffen.
  6. Melt chocolate chips (double boiler) over hot water slowly (SLOWLY! DON'T BURN THE CHOCOLATE!)
  7. Remove chilled balls from the refrigerator. Dip each Oreo Ball into the melted chocolate, and place on wax paper. I used a small spoon, allowing the excess chocolate to dip back into the pot. (Decorate with cookie crumbs while wet, if you choose to).
  8. Chill balls in fridge, decorate with more melted chocolate if desired.
